Cost
Home gym flooring mats. While not actually training equipment, they let you to get the most out of your training. Built to withstand even the hardest of impacts, not only do they prevent any damage to your floor, but they also absorb a lot of the sound from the weights hitting the floor.
But, of all the things in my home gym, the flooring mats are the most expensive! My training area is 5.5 m2. I use 24 mats to cover this area, and the total cost of the flooring mats and the connectors which join them together was 46,530 yen. That is not cheap!
For cost, I rate these flooring mats 1 star.
Effectiveness
These mats are designed to protect your floor and reduce noise, while also providing a hard surface for you to exercises safely on. The do all of these things exceptionally well. Even when loading up a heavy deadlift, you don’t have to worry about how the barbell hits the floor. And these connectors joining the mats together and these anti-slip bumps on the bottom also prevent the mats from moving around or coming apart.
All these features let you focus more on the actual training, which will be much more effective for building muscle. But perhaps even more important is the reduced risk of injury. Being careful about how hard the weights hit the floor, the sound this generates, and the flooring moving about underneath while you exercise you will cause you to use a less than ideal form when training. This has a high risk of injury. But with mats like these, not having to worry about damage, the sound or having the surface your standing on move about, this risk is completely eliminated.
For effectiveness, I rate these flooring mats 5 stars.
Versatility
Versatility. They’re flooring mats. Their entire purpose is to provide a sturdy surface for you to train on. Granted, they do this task very well, but that’s all they do. They are both comfortable and sturdy for bodyweight exercises, which I guess is worth an additional half a star if I’m being generous.
For versatility, I rate these flooring mats 1 and a half stars.
Practicality
These flooring mats are arguably the most practical item you can purchase for your home gym. They allow you to turn any basic household room into a shrine for muscle building. With these mats, you can train hard, using heavy dumbbells and plates without any concern for damage to your house or disturbing the neighbors. They’re also easy to connect. Just insert these connector pins into the holes to join the mats together at the corners and on the sides.
For practicality, I rate these flooring mats 5 stars.
Verdict
These are the results for these home gym flooring mats, but now it’s time for the big question: Should you buy them, should you consider them, or should you avoid them?
These home gym flooring mats are a product you should buy. They are expensive. Ridiculously expensive. But to get the most out of training at home while staying safe, you need to have these mats. Not only will they keep family and neighbors happy by preventing damage and reducing the sound the weights make when they contact the floor, but they’ll also keep you safe while allowing you to perform more effective weight training.
