Welcome crime fighting parents and little sidekicks to our Batman themed workout adventure. Today, we're going to be training just like the Dark Knight himself and channel our inner superhero. Get ready for an action packed workout adventure that'll make you feel strong, agile, and ready to protect Gotham City.
Before we put on our capes and masks, let's warm up our bodies and get those muscles ready for action.
Warmup 1: Dynamic Arm Swings
Stand with your feet shoulder width apart. Extend your arms out to the side and swing them in large circles. We're going to do this for 30 seconds. Let's do it!
Warmup 2: Hero Dodges
For this one, stand with your feet shoulder width apart, and I want you to imagine that a bad guy is trying to attack you and you're going to jump with one leg out the way, and then another bad guy’s attacking you from the other side, so you jump the other way and you keep dodging, and dodging those attacks. Let's do this for 30 seconds.
Great job, heroes. Now it's time to tackle some intense superhero exercises to build some strength and agility, just like Batman.
Batarang Throws
For this exercise, you need a small, light object, like a plastic ball. Stand with your feet shoulder width apart. Holding the ball in one hand, lunge forward with one leg with the ball in the same side hand. Lunge forward, and without letting go of the ball, pretend you're throwing it like a batterang, then return back and try with the other leg and the other hand. Let's do ten of these on each side.
Bat Leaps
Imagine that you're standing on the rooftops of buildings and you're jumping across the buildings like this in between the gaps. Let’s do ten of these.
Bat Takedowns
Imagine you’re sneaking up behind a villain, crouch down, and jump up with a punch. Each time, swap hands. Let's do 15 of these.
Cape Shields
In this exercise, we're going to use Batman's bulletproof cape and stop the bad guys from shooting us. So get your imaginary cape and punch out to the side and protect yourself from those bullets. Then do it again on the other side. Let’s do ten of these each side.
Aerial Swings
Using an overhead bar, pull yourself up off the ground and swing your legs up to hip height, back down, back up, and back down. Let's do ten of these swings.
Great job, everyone. But even superheroes need to recharge. It's time for our cooldown to stretch and relax our muscles.
Cooldown 1: Caped Crusader Chest Stretch
Knit your hands together, put them behind your head, and stretch them up by bringing your shoulder blades together. Hold this for 20 seconds.
Cooldown 2: Dynamic Leg Swings
With your right hand, hold onto a sturdy object, stand on your left leg, raise your right leg up, and swing it forwards and backwards. Then after you've done that, swap sides. Let’s do ten on each side.
Congratulations dynamic duos, you've just completed our Batman themed workout adventure. Remember, with dedication and training, you can become the hero that Gotham City needs.
